Actress Sonya Hussyn was a guest on Fuchsia Magazine where she opened up about healing from the emotional trauma she suffered during her childhood and learning to forgive her parents. Hussyn said the advice she would give to other people who find it difficult to forgive their parents is to understand that their mother and father are also human beings who can make mistakes sometimes.
“its difficult to forgive someone but it gets easier when you look into their life and see why they took such a decision. There is always a story behind any action a person has taken in the past…Every person in their perspective is making the right decision, aside from the fact that their decision might have an impact on four other people. When you look into their life and think what would you have done if you had gone through such an experience, then it gets incredibly easy to forgive them.”
The ‘Tich Button’ actress went on to stress that life is short, and rather than living with regret for not making it up with your parents in time, it’s better to let go of the grudges now and fix your relationships.
‘Family is everything by the end of the day. Your parents are human they’re not perfect in any way. If we step into their shoes then we would understand why they took certain decisions in their life.”
Sonya opened up about her childhood as the eldest daughter in the family when she had to ensure fights were handled smoothly by listening to both of their arguments, which gave her the responsibility to act like the mediator.
“I was the eldest daughter so I had to listen to the arguments by both of my parents and play the mediator. I’d listen to my father and speak in favour of my mother and vice versa. This places an immense burden on you to act as the bigger person to keep the family together. Because it’s like how a car can only run on four wheels, that’s how you must keep a family together.”
