Sunita Marshall revealed how she never faced problems because of her dark skin tone while working as a model
Actress and model Sunita Marshall was on the ARY Digital talk show ‘Good Morning Pakistan’ where she opened up about working in the media industry as a dusky woman. Sitting on the segment, the ‘Khuda Aur Mohabbat’ actress revealed she had not faced issues with her dark skin while modelling, but had only had problems while she was acting.
Sunita Marshall recalled how while modelling, she noticed that designers often preferred those women who had dusky complexions.
“I had never faced issues with my dark skin while I was modelling. I noticed that people often preferred dusky complexions.”
The ‘Sar-e-Rah’ actress said that during fashion shoots, she had her skin toned darkened even more than her natural one. Sunita explained that some fashion figures preferred darker skin over lighter one, and there were some colours that would shine out more if someone with a dusky complexion wore them.
Sunita opened up how during the early days when she worked alongside with women like Iraj Manzoor, who is also a dusky complexion woman, during fashion shoots they were given brighter colours like orange, rust or other earthy tone colours so they would stand out in photo shoots.
However while she began working in acting, Sunita said her dark skin often became a problem for how the lighting should adjust during filming.
“During television, there were a few instances where I did face some issues. While shooting a scene, there would be a problem in how to adjust the lighting because I was incredibly dark-skinned, and the person opposite to be would be fair. If the cameramen would increase the lighting in order to make me more fair, then the opposite actor looked awful on camera. Or if they toned down the light then I would look even darker on set.”
