Pakistani dramas that Twitter users feel had the right pairing, but the wrong writers

We know how much the internet loves to categorise Pakistani dramas under tropes they adore like ‘enemies to lovers’, ‘office romance’ or even ‘she fell first but he fell harder’. But this time, there is a new trope the internet seems to have invented which is called ‘right couple, wrong writers’: which pretty much means when a drama has the right couple with strong chemistry between them, but is poorly written because of the writer.

We have seen some dramas last year that deserved good writers who knew how to execute a good ending for their main lead, and it looks like twitter users are not holding back on naming them.

Twitter users started opening up about the Pakistani dramas they felt could have been a hit if they had good writers, and looks like the majority of them felt ‘Tere Bin’ hit the mark correctly. We can also understand why because the topsy turvey drama Meerab and Murtasim went through could have been easily resolved with a simple conversation! Why did it take Meerab being kidnapped, slapped, and then running away to come back after three long years- for the two of them to finally get together?

Every one remembers the attempted marital rape scene in ‘Tere Bin’ and how completely unnecessary it was. Could we get both Yumna and Wahaj to star in another drama together and this time with a better script?

Or also, the ridiculous slapped Meerab had to endure from Murtasim. How are they couple goals if she was forbidden from studying what she wanted, and married against her will?

After ‘Tere Bin’, users began bringing up other writers they felt were the right example of this trope. Another user mentioned ‘Iqtidar’ and we can also see why. The recent few episodes have, in our opinion, completely shred Mehru’s strengths as a female lead the audiences had loved because why is she so determined to stay with a man who lied to her about her brother’s murderer being freed?

Why is she still willing to stay with a family that bribed her mother to sign papers that freed her brother’s murderer, the thing she had been advocating against since the start of the drama? Make it make sense.

In 2024 Pakistani dramas gave us some intense ‘rivals to lovers’ storylines

And the last but odd one that another user mentioned was ‘Hum Tum’ starring Ahad Raza Mir and Ramsha Khan. We’re curious as to why some people feel this drama deserved a better writer.
