Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter saying that PML-N front man Nawaz Sharif strongly opposed any further increase in petrol prices by the government, and as a result left the party meeting.
This proposition by the government follows a series of hikes in petrol prices and Maryam wrote “Mian Sahib strongly opposed this decision and even said that I cannot burden the people with one more penny. And if there is any compulsion of the government, I am not involved in this decision and he left the meeting,” she shared in a Tweet on Monday.

Maryam supported her father on the decision and added, “I stand with the people. Cannot support this decision.”
Previously, the coalition government led by Shehbaz Sharif has so far approved four price hikes, amount to a massive Rs99.15 per litre in petrol and Rs132.39/litre increase in the price of diesel- as Pakistan experiences a 13-year-high inflation, reaching 21.3% last month.
