Earlier today, the Lahore High Court acquitted prime suspect in #QandeelBaloch’s murder case after the family of the victim pardoned the killer, who was her brother, as the court ignored the earlier affidavit submitted by Qandeel’s parents.
Qandeel was strangled to death by her brother, Waseem – who was granted a life sentence on September 27, 2019. Ever since news of the acquittal became public, there has been an outrage on Twitter with social media users expressing shame and grief at the incident.
If the parents of all thieves, criminals, murderers & terrorists just forgive their sons or daughters for their wrongdoings, will the state of Pakistan acquit them of all charges & set them free just like that?
Justice has ceased to exist in the state of Pakistan.#QandeelBaloch— Kamran Haider (@iamkamranhaider) February 14, 2022
This man who confessed of killing Qandeel, his own sister, is a free man today in the same country where Qandeel couldn’t live her life freely & was honor killed for the choices she made as a free citizen of this country. #qandeelbaloch #honourkilling pic.twitter.com/MJy5fjPpZq

Many questioned how such a gross injustice could actually have been committed and facilitated by the State and Judiciary?
I thought the 2016 amendment made it impossible to forgive a murderer for an honour killing. How on earth was #QandeelBaloch’s brother acquitted?!

While many women also came out to rightfully question again: are women really safe in this country? Where’s #JusticeforQandeel?
Rest In Peace #QandeelBaloch
You paid a price too high for being yourself. Unfortunately, you won’t be the last one.

Stop such farce – stop killing #women
There’s no justice for women in #Pakistan.. #QandeelBaloch’s brother Waseem acquitted, after court ignored affidavit submitted by Qandeel’s parents saying they forgave him. I do not have any hope for women in this country #QandeelBaloch #murdereracquittal
