Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to be honoured with a museum, music academy. Music legend, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away at the age of 48 on August 16, 1997 leaving a legacy of over 125 albums.
Speaking to Geo News, his nephew and singing sensation Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that the building, which will be constructed in his hometown Faisalabad, will take three to four months to be completed. He further added that the building will serve as a music academy and a museum.

Popularly known as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali meaning ‘The King of Qawwali’, Nusrat is widely credited with introducing qawwali music to international audiences. He gained a lot of fame all across the globe and is still known for his unmatched voice and musical credentials.
He is still considered to be the greatest Sufi singer in the Punjabi and Urdu language, and World’s greatest qawwali singer ever. He was described as the 4th greatest singer of all time by LA Weekly in 2016. He was known for his vocal abilities and could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. He belonged to the Qawwal Bacchon Gharana extending the 600-year old qawwali tradition of his family and is widely credited with introducing qawwali music to international audiences.
During his lifetime, Nusrat collaborated with several foreign artists, including Eddie Vedder, Peter Gabriel, Jeff Buckley, Michael Brook. He was also included in the Guinness Book of World Records. His qawaalis are still unmatched and he will stay in our hearts forever!
