A sessions court in Islamabad sentenced primary suspect Zahir Jaffer to death for the murder of Noor Mukaddam.

Two members of Zahir Jaffer’s house staff, who were employees to the Jaffer family- Iftikhar and Jameel — both co-accused in the case — were sentenced to 10 years in jail, while all others, including Zahir’s parents Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamjee and TherapyWorks employees, were let off free.

The verdict was reserved in the case after all the parties made their final arguments in a hearing on Tuesday presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani.

After the court marked the attendance of Therapy Works employees, the judge ordered for the courtroom to be emptied, saying he needed to speak to the defendants. The accused, including Zahir, were later sent back from the court once the judge was done with them.
