A video of a recent exchange between Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and Pakistani deputy foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar went viral after the two joked with each other. “We are friends, friends don’t care about the size, small is beautiful”, said the Russian Minister to Hina Rabbani Khar.
The video was recorded during a recent bilateral meeting with the Russian delegation in Samarkand, when Lavrov sitting with a complete delegation asked Khar about the absence of her team. The remark highlighted the struggling state of Pakistan’s current economic situation.
“Where’s the rest of your team?” asked Lavrov to Rabbani, who sat across the diplomatic table, with only one state official on her right, and empty chairs along both sides.
“We have a small team. We are not a big power like Russia. We are travelling with a small team and we have a small embassy” , Khar wittily replied to Lavrov. To which the Russian FM candidly responded saying “We are friends, friends don’t care about the size, small is beautiful”.
