If you’re looking for a gripping murder mystery to cozy up t0 for the winter season, Ushna Shah and Sheheryar Munawar’s new drama ‘Aye Ishq-e-Junoon’ has arrived at just the right time.
A time-ticking thriller about how an accident unravels the hidden secrets between a close knit family, class dynamics and revenge: this is everything that makes it the perfect crime series to binge watch.
Ushna Shah plays Aimen, a woman from a lower-class family who is the main breadwinner, and works as a teacher in a school to support them and also to pay for her brother’s medical bills. She is suddenly fired because of unexplained reasons, and receives the assistance of Alia (played by Irsa Ghazal), the wife of a billionaire, who helps her get a job as a waitress for her son’s hotel.
Sheheryar Munawar plays Rahim, a hard working businessman who is set to get married to his long-term girlfriend Maheen (played by Mah e Nur Haider). He is seen as the complete opposite to his younger brother Shahroz, who leads a more extravagant and laid-back lifestyle.
Twitter users have gushed about the sparks of chemistry flowing between Sheheryar Munawar and Ushna Shah.
In these few episodes we can notice how despite the class difference there is something between Aimen and Rahim. From their first interaction when Aimen arrives for her job interview, she rebuffs his cold demeanour, and he expresses his admiration for her bluntness and headstrong nature.

Later on, Rahim shows how he keeps Aimen’s protection and well-being as a priority when she is harassed by her ex-fiance outside the hotel, and he offers to provide her with assistance which she refuses. When Aimen is later being harassed by Shahroze and pushed into the pool by his friends, it is Rahim who jumps in to save her.

He also tends to Aimen later, and promises to take strict action against his brother by banning him from the hotel.

However, this recent episode has taken a dark turn because during Rahim’s engagement party, Aimen passes away after she hits her head on the wall while trying to escape Shahroze and his friends. And now, the family faces the threat of criminal investigations unless they’re ready to hide the murder.
Already four episodes in, and the story is incredibly dark and Agatha Christie-esque that I wish there were more than two episodes released each week.
