Ahad Raza Mir made headlines when it was announced that the hearthrob was cast in the Netflix series “Resident Evil” which aired on the streaming platform on 14th July. Ahad plays an Indian refugee Arjun Batra, who is escaping after the spread of the T-virus.

After the series arrived on Netflix, there was a mixed reaction on Twitter. Some fans went wild that more and more Pakistani actors were getting some well-deserved international recognition like Mehwish Hayat and Fawad Khan had gotten for Ms. Marvel.

Some were even applauding the heart throb for his terrific acting

However, there were others who were disappointed by one scene where Ahad’s character is seen kissing another woman. Many took this moment to call out the double standards of Pakistani audiences which would endlessly lash out at an actress for wearing a sleeveless top or even be seen partying out late, but doesn’t hold the same anger and moral policing towards male actors.

Many users had compared the positive reception Ahad Raza Mir was receiving to the backlash Mawra Hocane got from Pakistani audiences for her role in “Sanam Teri Kasam” where she kissed the male lead and even had sex with him. Users pointed out that the double standards in Pakistan police women for the things men are allowed to get away with easily.
