Since the government’s decision to ease lockdown, the COVID-19 situation has become rather despondent in Pakistan. n order to come up with a solution, the Governor of Punjab, Chahudary Ghulam Sarwar, and wife his invited TikTok stars to the Governor House to raise awareness about the current pandemic. The meeting was attended by top TikTok users including Kanwal Aftab, Zulqurnain Sikandar, Sehar hayyat, Warda Javaid, Daniya Sohail and Haider Ali who spoke about the current situation and shared their input on how the platform can be better used to raise awareness among masses to stop the spread of misinformation.

The thought behind the idea was that since the app has a massive reach in Pakistan and content creators are followed by urban as well as rural netizens, spreading of a public service message via the app may prove to be a good idea.
However, shortly after the news came out, Twitter went ablaze with all sorts of Tweets. Some supportive and some not-so-supportive! Many were of the view that doctors should’ve been invited and given this initiative to spread awareness on the matter while only a few raised their voice in favour.
Here’s what’s happening…
Everyone is Trolling Tiktokers For being Called by Governor of Punjab.
Rather than I Support this

Undoubtedly, the majority like to watch videos on #TikTok 4 entertainment & the Tiktokers have gathered a considerable viewership. Using them to spread awarness about protection against #COVID19 may surely be helpful, but in the governor house by the Governor–Look odd.!#TikTok

Just a famous one would get all the privileges in this country and the educated ones would be unemployed, disrespected and mistreated? Such a pity. Such things make me ashamed of being a citizen of this nation. #TikTok #Whomtoblame https://t.co/dnjOCdvNRW
