Fatimah bint Musa, commonly known as Fatimah Masumah is a celebrated Muslim saint and scholar. Fatima earned the status of a saint because of her holiness and wisdom. She was the daughter of the 7th Shi’i Imam and sister of the 8th Shi’i Imam, Ali al-Rida.

She is said to have been learned in various Islamic sciences and the teachings of Muhammad, and to have transmitted many ahadith from her family members. Fatimah was very close to her brother, and her father, who were both Imams.

Every year, thousands of Shia Muslims travel to the city of Qom in Iran to honor Fatimah Masumah at her shrine. Her birth anniversary is also being celebrated all over the internet and the female saint is currently trending on Twitter, with posts celebrating her life and works.

On the occasion, Twitterati commemorated her for “considerable knowledge of the various Islamic sciences and the teachings and merits of the family of the Prophet (PBUH).”

Even before she was born, Shi’i Imams foretold Fatimah Masumah’s holiness and piety. Scholars have written that she had a “special gift” of knowledge and spiritual awareness, even in childhood. When she was only ten years old, Harun al-Rashid, the 5th caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate sent her father to prison. This separation was very difficult for Fatimah, but her brother ‘Ali was 25 years her senior and took care of her.

Moreover, Fatimah Masumah was also known for her kindness and graciousness.
