Pakistani dramas have come and gone but few have remained iconic among audiences solely because of the incredible chemistry between the main leads. Lately we have seen some incredible dramas that weren’t just beloved because of their strong messages, but how the main leads carried the show with the way their on-screen connection was too magnifying to look away. Scroll down to see some of our top five dramas where the couples had audiences hooked from the very first glance.

Rabi and Sonu from ‘Tan Man Neel O Neel’

Tan Man Neel O Neel is going down as one of the best dramas to come out of the Pakistani entertainment industry because of the powerful stance it took against hate riots, but also because of the both endearing and tragic relationship between Rabi and Sonu. They both met each other at the lowest parts of their life when Rabi began working on her dream to become content creator, and Sonu’s dance group had fallen apart because of Moon’s rape. Yet both helped each other achieve their dreams but were tragically killed before they could have witnessed the fruit of their dedication and hard work.

Aaliya and Salman in ‘Kuch Ankahi’

If there’s anything drama lovers adore, it’s the ‘enemies to lovers’ trope which ‘Kuch Ankahi’ served on a platter with the gorgeous chemistry between Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas. Fiercy and headstrong Aaliya wants nothing more than to help her father retain their ancestral home amid a property dispute and clashes with Salman to get the coveted head project lead post for a real estate firm. When Salman and his mother start renting in the upper portion of Agha Jaan’s home, Aliya and Salman’s rivalry lessens as the two realise how much they like each other.

Kashaf and Zaroon from ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’

Regardless of how many good Pakistani dramas are released in the future, nothing will be able to release the grip this drama still holds over social media ,and how Fawad and Sanam’s chemistry remains rent free in our minds. Every year we see a random clip like Kashaf and Zaroon staring at the moon, or when she was giving him a cup of chai, and once more all plans are dropped and we’re back to binging the show again. That’s how essential good chemistry is to making a good show.

Farjaad and Umeed from ‘Fairytale’

There can’t be a list about excellent Pakistani dramas without mentioning Fairy Tale and how it mastered the ‘green flag man written by a woman’ trope with the beloved Farjaad. Every now and then, social media users bring up their favourite moments from the drama that cemented its iconic status like when Farjaad assuages Umeed’s bad mood by taking her on a chai date, or when he sneaks out in the middle of the night to help her when she, along with her cousins, are arrested by the police. Or our favourite part? When he stopped being such a workaholic and took a break in the middle of the day to give Umeed flowers.

Burham and Nashwa from ‘Qarz -e Jaan’

Audiences had a mixed reaction to whether the ending was justified or not, but everyone agrees that the highlight of the drama was definitely how endearing the relationship between Burham and Nashwa was. Nashwa was someone who rebelled against her regressive and conservative family by choosing to become a lawyer so that she could help her mother escape an abusive home. With Burham, she was able to find a mentor and friend who taught her everything she needed to know about becoming a criminal lawyer, and was even by her side when her family was giving her a tough time.
