Eid-ul-Adha known as the ‘festival of sacrifice’ is here once again bringing all the blessings and happiness of this special month. Nearly two million Muslims from all around the world gather in the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on the 9th of August for an annual pilgrimage known as the Hajj. After performing Hajj, the Khutba is delivered from Mount Arafat in Mecca and then Eid is celebrated by following the sunnat-e-Ibrahimi- which is to slaughter the animals and distribute the meat among the needy and then to family and friends.
Hajj and slaughtering of animals is what Eid-ul-Adha is all about. For all the men out there this Eid is all about looking for the best animals and then the ‘qurbani’ on the day of Eid for which they all are usually seen in white shalwar kurtas.
