‘Tan Man Neel O Neel’ shows that even middle-aged couples can have a more wholesome love story than the main leads.

The Hum Tv drama ‘Tan Man Neel O Neel’ has been receiving a lot of positive feedback from audiences for how it explores a woman’s determination to battle all odds to become a social media influencer, the stigma male dancers face in their field, sexual assault and mob politics.

But another thing that has stood out for fans is how it explores the relationship between Rabi’s mother and father, and the way they continued to remain in love even after having children.

Often in Pakistani dramas, it is young couples who have been the centre focus of romantic relationships while middle-aged couples are aloof and distant from each other. But Nadia Afgan and Noman Masood did a beautiful performance of a couple who had a stiff relationship with each other previously, but were learning to fall back in love with one another.

From the previous episodes we learn that Rabi’s father was in love with another woman, who was a dancer. Although he married Mumtaz, and went on to have Rabi, his love for the other woman still lingered. Mumtaz has also often yearned for her husband’s love, but felt like he did not like her as much because of his silent nature.

But in episode 8, both Mumtaz and Rabi’s father reconcile at the park, and he promises to be a more attentive husband towards her.

Many users shared how endearing they found the way Mumtaz kept trying to hold her husband’s hand as they walked in the park.

But when they’re sitting on a bench, Rabi’s father assures Mumtaz that he did not dislike her, and was only a distant man because it was his nature. And seeing Mumtaz’s insecurity, he promises to be a better husband and to be more caring to her.

How often have we seen a drama where women in their 50 or 60’s express their desire to receive more love and attention from their husbands? Mumtaz is a side character, but she has quickly cemented herself as an endearing character for audiences who love ‘Tan Man Neel O Neel’ because of the way she supports Rabi’s dreams regardless of the pushback other family members gave her.

Watch Tan Man Neel O Neel every Saturday on Hum Tv at 8 pm.
