As Kafeel walks through the present, Zeba (Sanam Saeed) becomes a shadow, while the children navigate the plot. Becoming the binding force of the dysfunctional family, Subok (Aashir Wajahat), is a hardworking individual who fulfils the responsibilities of a breadwinner and is a constant support for his mother and sisters.

He becomes the barrier between his sisters and any misfortune that comes their way; he stands by his mother, ensuring their needs are met, and they can cherish little moments of happiness. Though too young, he bears the burden of the responsibilities of their missing father.

When Jami (Emmad Irfani) questions his eldest daughter, Javeria’s (Nooray Zeeshan) character, Subok shields her from every accusation. Jami commands Subok to seek answers regarding her whereabouts and why she came home late with a boy, and he clearly refuses. He proved to be unlike his father and displayed his trust in his sister, promising to protect her from all the jabs Jami was throwing at her. He dispels the common view that, in such scenes, the first to raise a finger is the brother. He shatters the patriarchal mindset and ensures that his support and trust for his sisters is beyond any allegation.

The scene where Subok stops a physical altercation and harms himself deeply indicates how he has been throwing himself before any harm to protect his broken family. Though he has been there for his sisters and mother, the harm has been done; they are traumatised and their personalities damaged.

The audience was quick to highlight the intense scenes between the children and Jami, with Subok at the centre. A netizen stated that seeing Subok’s support for Javeria healed something inside them. They posted:
