As the red carpet for The Cannes Film festival rolls out, we see celebrities from from all around the world bring forth a display of sartorial choices that comes close to the glitz and glamour we see at the Oscars and Met Gala.

With Joyland getting aired at the Cannes Film festival this year, we see our very own Pakistani celebrities walking down the red carpet. While most would have assumed them to wear something similar to a gown or a suit, it was refreshing to see most of them in Eastern attires.
We were in awe of the Sequin glory that Sarwat Gillani donned at the red carpet. A floor length sparkling parrot green shirt with a duppata, gold sandal heels and minimal makeup; what’s there to not love about it?

Sarwat took to Instagram to explain the essence behind her Elan ensemble “The flag is monumental it represents me, my land, my struggles & my culture. It is the embodiment of what I am as an artist and to represent it at @festivaldecannes is a dream come true. This is for all those who believed in me, for those who supported me and for my land of amazing people.”

It was a moment of immense pride as Joyland received a standing ovation at the screening at the festival. For the screening Sarwat opted for another South Asian option; a Saree that came with an embellished full sleeved blouse, again by Elan.

For the events preceding the screening, Sarwat opted for a white understated midi dress with black heels. This look was the personification of the less is more phenomena and we absolutely love this breathable look.
