Private school teacher in Rawalpindi goes too far — student left bruised for not memorizing lesson.

Dreadful news has come from Rawalpindi where a student was left bruised for not learning the lesson as reported by Geo News Urdu. The private school teacher had punished the fifth-grade student with physical abuse, leaving the child’s body bruised. The school is located in Tehsil Kallar Syeda of Rawalpindi where the education system and practices have come under great scrutiny. Physically abusing your students in the name of punishment has again become a topic of debate.

The fifth grade student’s incident has put light to the ill practices in many schools in Pakistan. The family of the grieving child has urged the Chief Minister of Punjab to take swift action against the teacher. The CEO of Education has also been alerted regarding the case in expectation of a quick response and action.

Corporal punishment in schools is not new to Pakistan; according to a research conducted by Save the Children and UNICEF, 43 types of punishment are used in schools in Pakistan. The case of Hafiz Hunain Bilal, a tenth grader from Lahore is well known. He too was inflicted to fatal physical abuse for not learning a lesson in 2019. He was inflited to mental abuse for a while as claimed by his father.
