Veteran singer and politician Abrar Ul Haq was a guest at a show where he spoke about how it was Pakistani musicians who brought Punjabi music on the global map, before Indian Punjabi rappers like AP Dhillon and Shubhneet Singh made it popular.

Speaking on the success of his old hits like “Preeto” and “Billo de ghar”, the politician remarked how at the time, there were no such songs in India but then it was Sikh musicians who took inspiration from Abrar and began popularising Punjabi songs.

“I had met the politician Anwar Aziz in court and he told me this is a compliment for you, that Sikh men are taking inspiration from you. It began with Sidhu Moosewala. I think Pakistani’s should be proud at the fact that we are the one’s who put Punjabi music on the world map.”
