We have all grown up being a witness to the painful depictions of our country in the Western media as war-torn, overwhelmed with poverty, diseases and destruction. With the onset of Ms. Marvel, Pakistani fans were super excited that this was a chance for Pakistan to be represented on an international platform in a positive manner. And now in episode 4, we watch Kamala and her mother land in Karachi to meet her family and we watched her explore Karachi and it’s gorgeous attractions.

In this episode, Kamala arrives in Karachi to learn more about the backstory of her great-grandmother Aisha, who had first discovered the bangle which had such powers. We see her meet her cousins and nani, who tells her about the impact the partition had on the family. This is also the first time we see Farhan Akhtar as the leader of the Red Daggers, a secret group who help Kamala with learning about the backstory behind her powers.

Fans had to praise the art direction and the way the director of this episode Sharmeen had removed the yellow filter, which was often used by Western shows like Homeland to depict the East as backward and dry, and instead presented the city and all its color and attraction.
