In an Instagram post, Hania Amir got candid about her break from social media, stating that she took it to understand the amount of hate she faced online. She said she is not new to controversy, yet it is hard to acknowledge the hate for happy women. She posted:
She said that there are many pulling her down; people from the fraternity, strangers, both men and women, pulling her down every time a picture is posted online. She said that women are hated on because they do not seek validation and do not fit in the mould that society has created for them. She added that a woman’s happiness is short-lived because of all the negativity that follows.
Hania added that, while we comment that the world has evolved, it is not the case, because the comments that first came from family and relatives have gone onto social media, where anyone can go up and spew hatred, however they please. She said that we are still commenting on women’s bodies, their weight, their complexion, everything, and it is worse because it is any stranger on the internet.

While she appreciates the community she has built online, many women face online harassment. She also urged women to give up on the hate in the name of fashion. Where women wearing the same outfit are compared, men wearing the same outfits over and over with changed lapels or jewelry are considered revolutionary. She said that the women vs. women agenda is highly propagated, while men vs. men is never seen.
She said that when people hate women, they should consider whether the hatred stems from the fact that the woman is successful, happy, and content in her life. She added that before spewing hate towards women on the internet, people should wonder what has triggered their hate. She added that just because a woman does not fit your definition of ‘perfect’ does not make her eligible for your hatred. In conclusion, she said that it is about time that we let people be comfortable in their own skin. They should not be gaslighted into believing that they are doing something wrong.
