Fawad Chaudhry expresses concern for Muslim actors safety after violent Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, calls for Pakistan to protect rights of Indian Muslims
Former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has expressed his concern for the dangers faced by Muslim actors in India, in the wake of the horrifying Saif Ali Khan stabbing incident. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the PTI politician wrote that Muslim actors were facing all sorts of violent attacks since Hindu right nationalism began growing in popularity all over India.
“Saif Ali Khan hospitalised: Actor stabbed six times by intruder… Muslim actors are facing serious life threats since the rise of Hindu Mahasabha …. Pakistan must rise for the rights of Indian Muslims”
The politician went on to defend his decision to speak up for the Bollywood actor, saying that it was a responsibility that Pakistanis stood up for the minority groups across Gaza, Kashmir, India and all over the world while fixing their own issues.
The ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ actor was brutally stabbed six times on Thursday morning inside his apartment after a physical fight broke out between him and an unidentified man.
According to Khan’s team, the actor’s surgery went successful and was in recovery.
“He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and also repair the leaking spinal fluid,” spoke Nitin Dange, one of the doctors at the hospital Khan was admitted.
According to Filmfare, Khan’s wife, actress Kareen Kapoor, has also released a statement addressing the horrific incident. She said the family was safe and doing fine, and also thanked fans and media sources for their support.
“There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern.”
