Pakistan Idol has only been around for a few weeks and it has already won over social media with the way it extends beyond just a mere singing contest, but a well needed platform that spotlights on the diverse and talented people of Pakistan. Social media users have praised the show for reviving Pakistan’s artistic landscape and setting the point that why we need more cultural initiatives across the country where ordinary people have the opportunity to display their talent.
The show airs on every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm on Tapmad.
The show’s four judges — Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Bilal Maqsood, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan — have been praised not only for their expertise but also for their genuine support and encouragement of emerging talent. A clip from yesterday’s episode is going viral where Bilal Maqsood shed a few tears after being moved by a man’s performance.
Several users have praised the way the show has platformed people from unique cultures, and different paths that have brought them to this stage. One of the contestants was Vishal, a singer from Sukkur, came from a Hindu family and had learned to sing before he could even talk!
Another beautiful clip from the show featured a 15 year old girl from Rawalpindi, who had blown the judges away with her mesmerising voice.
