Actor and director Shamoon Abbasi, in an interview with Ahmad Ali Butt, spoke up about the recent controversy surrounding his relationship with his daughter, Anzela Abbasi. Talking about his presence in his daughter’s life, he said he had been there throughout her childhood, yet they had grown apart.
Shamoon added that he had been fulfilling his responsibilities as a father, emotionally and financially, throughout Anzela’s childhood. He further said that his daughter’s response gradually diminished over time, and the two eventually fell apart. He elaborated that there was no falling out; however, he had concerns about her, which may have led her to further distance herself from him.
Shamoon also added that a change in Anzela’s lifestyle and personality further created the disconnect. He added that his concern about her public image widened the divide, and he eventually tried to mend it. He also clarified that he had been absent from her wedding because of a road accident and had been in surgery.
Anzela Abbasi, a model, appeared on the same podcast in November 2025, where she claimed her father was absent and that her mother fulfilled both parents’ roles. She did say that she now understands that her parents were figuring out life themselves, but the divorce left an impact on her.
In response, Shamoon shared pictures of them from Anzela’s childhood, captioned “the absent father”.
