Episode 12 of Pamaal has taken us on a rollercoaster of emotions, yet again! Malika (Saba Qamar) and her mother (Salma Asim) feel insecure because they are financially dependent on their brother/uncle. The mother expects Malika to be humble and bow to the needs of the house, because they sit empty-handed. In these circumstances, Malika has no choice but to accept Raza (Usman Mukhtar) because she chose to protect her child’s future, as she sees financial instability as a single parent in future.
Where Malika, in herself, feels helpless, her uncle (mamu) displays a man every house needs. His love and support for his sister and niece are winning hearts. Viewers are admiring how he not only wants them to feel safe in his home, he ensures that he puts Raza and his family in place. He denies sending his niece to her husband, unless he apologises to her.

Despite her uncle’s support, Malika returns to her husband, who is also struggling with his emotions. He feels regret for his actions, while Malika is still in her guilt over the incident. He still says that his actions were to protect her, while she is deep into self-blame and calls herself stupid. While he comes to her defence, saying she is simple and unaware of society’s ills.
Which seems to be a fresh start for the growing family, is a greater trap, as Malika is welcoming more mental abuse for the future. She only feels at fault because of the constant blame she has faced during her stay at her uncle’s. She is ready to make amends and fix her marriage, and be a “better” person for her husband and child.
