Actress Maira Khan recently appeared on a talk show with host Vasay Chaudhry where she jokingly schooled the comedian for his chauvinistic humor.
The trend of a band of comedians making flirtatious advances at female celebrity guests is not an uncommon sight in Pakistani talk shows. And men repeatedly making unsolicited advances at females from the show business has now become a trend for comedy shows.

A similar incident was seen in ‘Gup Shab With Vasay Chaudhry’ where jumping onto the bandwagon of this trend in comedy, local comedian Qaiser Piya joked about liking the female guest on the show, Maira.
However, instead of simply laughing, feeling awkward and making a pass at his advances, the actress took the opportunity to jokingly reprimand the comedian for his humor despite being married and a father to three children. Though funny, the instance shows a different approach towards turning around men’s unsolicited advances, and a need to rethink our idea of humor and what is comedic especially in the case of female celebrities!
