Divorce in Pakistan is treated in a harsh manner, with both spouses refusing to treat each other with integrity and kindness and forcing the children to choose between them. There is hardly any discussion about encouraging ex-partners to remain friends after divorce, and still support each others endeavors after ending their marriage.

Which is why we’re so happy that Mahira Khan is tearing apart the stereotype that spouses become bitter towards each other after their divorce. Speaking to the talk show “On The Spot” where she promoted her new movie “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad”, the actress revealed that she and her ex-husband co-parent their youngest son Azlam together, and he is extremely supportive of her ambitions:

“I’m divorced but till now, apart from my parents and my brother, there is no one who has been more supportive of my dreams than the way my ex-husband has been.”

Mahira Khan further shared that her ex-husband is the person who has seen her struggle to get to the point where she is now. He had always encouraged her to let nothing stop her from achieving what she wants:

“My ex-husband is the one who has seen me struggle to get to where I am right now. He has seen me at my worst and has kept encouraging me to work hard and let nothing come between me and my dreams. He is a very supportive man.”
