A recently opened Lahori restaurant Bozo, caused a stir on social media with its ‘Wagyu Dolls’ dish- which received a lot of flak for its “inappropriate” concept, leading to the restaurant owner issuing a public apology and replacing the concept with a new one.

The dish that caused all the controversy was called “Wagyu Babe”- featuring a Barbie doll on a plate dressed in 150 grams of premium grade Wagyu. The idea was for people to undress the Barbie before they would consume the food.

Although restaurant owners seemed to consider it to be a cute way of presenting the dish- people found the concept to be quite disgusting, which stirred up quite a debate over social media. Many deemed this idea of presenting the meat to be revolting. One particular user brought up the matter requesting Bozo to remove this dish from the menu.

Responding to all the criticism and backlash, Bozo restaurant’s owners apologized on their official Instagram account through a post.

Although the ‘Wagyu Barbie’ dish turned out to be controversial at Bozo, the dish is commonly served in other parts of the world. However, the concept might not be the best choice for Pakistan, where women are already battling for basic human rights. What are your thoughts on the ‘Wagyu doll’ controversy?
