Elaborating on the details of the operation, Lahore Deputy Chief Wildlife Rangers, Adnan Wirk, stated that action was taken under the wildlife laws, which prohibit keeping exotic pets in urban residential areas. Among the illegally kept pet lions were five females, three males and three cubs. He further added that the big cats are moved to the Safari Park, and a case has been registered against the owners for keeping wild animals as pets without a license.

The Punjab Wildlife Rangers claim that the lions were sourced from Sheikhupura and kept in Lahore in secret. This act carries a fine of up to 5 million rupees and a maximum term of imprisonment of 7 years. To avoid such unfortunate incidents, pet owners must register their lions with the Punjab Wildlife Rangers and pay an annual fee of Rs. 50,000.
