Lahore- private academy principal accused of raping 9th grade student
A horrifying incident has been uncovered in Lahore where a principal of a private academy has been accused of allegedly raping a ninth-grade student.
According to ARY, the principal, Iftikhar, had called in students for extra classes on a Saturday. After this, he dismissed all of the students except for one, who was taken to the lab room where the violent attack had taken place.
The survivor’s mother has reported to the media outlet that the police has not taken any significant action, despite filing the report.
According to the police, the survivor has undergone medical examination, and the case will progress after the final results come out.
Punjab has seen a rise in rape and violent sexual assault attacks in the last few months. In September a polio worker from Jacobabad was abducted and raped on 11 September. According to police authorities, the survivor had been taken to James Hospital for a medical examination and the accused had been arrested.
On September 18, the survivor had appeared infront of the sessions judge on Wednesday, and said that she was forced to change her statement by the police.
The survivor revealed police authorities pushed her to change the charges from abduction and rape to a robbery charge. The police present in court also confessed that they were pressured by powerful individuals into changing the statement.
In October, protests spread across the city to demand the arrest of the security guard who had allegedly raped a young girl at the Punjab College for Women. The news went viral on social media, prompting students to mobilise on social media as well as stage protests to demand immediate action against the perpetrator.
On 19 October, the Punjab Government’s seven member committee had announced that no such incident had taken place. The committee report revealed that there was no evidence of the alleged rape to have happened, according to Dawn.
