In Lahore’s Raiwind, police have arrested the alleged ringleader of a kidney trafficking group with the help of modern technology, Express News reported. According to Station House Officer(SHO) Raiwind City, Muhammad Zaka, the suspect had been targeting financially vulnerable citizens by offering them large sums of money in exchange for their organs.

In their statement, the police said that the accused lured victims to a clinic he had established in Islamabad, where they were kept in illegal confinement for several days. Once a deal was finalised, the gang would surgically remove their kidneys without proper medical protocols or consent. The police identified one of the victims, Nadir Ali, who was reportedly offered Rs300,000 before one of his kidneys was removed. The police backed their allegation with CCTV footage showing the victim in the clinic.

The SHO added that the gang was operating with multiple accomplices, who are currently being pursued. Raids are underway in different locations to apprehend the remaining members involved in the illegal organ trade.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Saddar, Rana Hussain Tahir, praised SHO Muhammad Zaka and his team for successfully tracing and arresting the prime suspect, terming the operation a significant breakthrough in curbing organ trafficking networks in the region.
