Lahore: Man arrested for attempted assault of 12-year-old girl

A man has been arrested for harassing a 12-year-old girl in Model Colony, Lahore, by the Gulberg Police, Express News reported. According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gulberg, Taimoor Abbas Khan, the suspect was quickly identified as Qasim Hussain. He was traced from Model Colony, where the arrest was made.

He targeted a 12-year-old named Aliza, who had gone to the local market to collect some household items. The accused lured her into a house in Model Colony and allegedly attempted to assault her sexually. However, the girl raised an alarm, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.

Upon hearing the teenager’s cries, the neighbours filed a report, and the police’s swift action led to the suspect’s immediate arrest. Superintendent of Police (SP) Model Town, Shehrbano Naqvi, commended SHO Taimoor Abbas Khan and his team for their prompt response. In a statement, she emphasised that those exploiting children will not be shown any leniency under the law.

SHO Taimur Abbas ensured that due diligence would be served in the case. The complaint has been officiated and investigations are ongoing.  Further measures are being strengthened to prevent such incidents. The authorities have also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately, highlighting the department’s commitment to safeguarding children from exploitation.
