Lahore’s Shahdara Police have arrested a man accused of harassing and molesting a young woman, following swift action directed by senior police officials, Express News reported. The incident came to light after a woman reported that a motorcyclist had harassed and molested her before fleeing the scene.

Taking note of the matter, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect, who had concealed his identity by wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. According to Superintendent Police(SP) City Bilal Ahmed, the incident occurred two days ago, when the accused approached the victim on a motorcycle, assaulted her, and escaped at high speed. CCTV cameras installed in the area captured footage of the suspect fleeing, which proved instrumental in the investigation.

This surveillance footage was used by the police to track down the suspect, despite his attempt to hide his face. A case was promptly registered upon receiving the complaint, and a dedicated police team launched an intensive search operation. Within two days of the investigation, the accused was arrested and identified as Abdul Rehman.

SP City Bilal Ahmed commended Station House Officer(SHO) Shahdara Khurram Shahzad and his team for their professionalism and timely response in apprehending the suspect. Talking to the media, Bilal Ahmad said that harassment and violence against women would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasised that ensuring the safety and dignity of women remain top priorities for the police. He further added that harassing or troubling women is a red line, and such offenders deserve no leniency.
