Lahore groom, transgender dancers among 32 arrested for road-blocking wedding dance event

The police in Lahore’s Chuhang area have arrested 32 individuals for organising a dance party during a wedding event, Express News reported. The arrestees include the groom and transgender dancers who have been accused of blocking the road during the wedding event for the dance gathering.

The Chuhang police Station House Officer (SHO), Muhammad Raza, has stated that the accused have been arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act and that a case has been registered against them. The groom, identified as Abu Bakr, ended up cancelling his wedding procession as he spent the night in police custody. The SHO also stated that the case has been registered under the Marriage and Sound Act and other relevant sections, and that many suspects have been nominated, including Shahzaib, Ramzan, and Ahmad.

Superintendent Police(SP) Saddar Division, Rana Hussain Tahir, spoke to the press and stated that the accused had blocked the road and were performing vulgar acts with transgender dancers. He also added that Rs. 62,500 were also recovered from the wedding event raid.

The District Inspector General Operations also added that the violation of the Marriage and Sound Act and the Loudspeaker Act will not be shown any leniency, and strict legal action will be taken against them.
