To make Lahore smog-free, the Lahore district administration has decided to launch an industrial crackdown to ensure the complete implementation of its anti-smog action plan, reported Express News.

A meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Syed Musa Raza, was conducted to assess the city’s pollution control efforts. A special task force was formed under him, which appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance), Mudassar Nawaz, to lead the operation. This task force will inspect industrial units of the city on an emergency basis.

The pollution control committee includes representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Labour Department, and assistant commissioners from all city zones. It will conduct detailed inspections of industrial boilers and furnaces to identify major contributors to smog and to enforce compliance with environmental standards.

A zero-tolerance policy against the use of substandard fuels will be adopted, and all illegal carbon bags will be seized. Any violations will be subject to strict legal action, and police reports will be filed. Mudassar Nawaz informed that all assistant commissioners have been directed to personally monitor industrial inspections to ensure that environmental SOPs are fully implemented. He added that this task force will work together to tackle air pollution.

All resources are being utilised to give citizens a clean and healthy environment, he said. He also urged all industrial owners to strictly comply with environmental laws to help achieve the goal of a smog-free Lahore. He further emphasised that the committee is acting in line with the Lahore High Court’s directives and no leniency will be shown towards offenders.
