
The police have arrested a security guard for killing a woman outside a private bank in Karachi’s Paposh Nagar Sarafa Bazaar, Express News reported. The victim was severely injured and moved to Civil Hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds. Swift action was taken by the police, who recovered the weapon and bullet casings from the scenes alongwith the arrest. Identified as Sadiq, the suspect alleged that he had been blackmailed for extortion by the victim.
The victim, 32-year-old Zahida, was married to Asif and had been friends with Sadiq outside her marriage. Regarding the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) Paposh Nagar, Shaukat Awan, stated that, according to the initial investigation, the woman had reportedly extorted Rs. 50,000 from the suspect a month earlier and was demanding more. She had threatened him through a video of him, which she would make viral if he did not give the money. In distress, he lured the woman inside the ATM over the promise to give her the money and brutally shot her.
The police have also stated that the investigation is underway, with the evidence in the hands of the forensics team for further examination.
