In a swift operation driven by technical intelligence, the Kemari Investigation Police in Karachi have successfully rescued a young woman and arrested a suspect who allegedly used social media to lure and assault her. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Misbah, was reported missing from the Baldia Town area on March 20. Following the disappearance, a First Information Report(FIR) was lodged against unknown suspects.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Kemari Investigation, Masroor Ahmed Jatoi, a specialized team was formed, led by Inspector Sarwan Jam Saqi. He initiated a probe using advanced digital tracking and technical surveillance.
The investigation revealed that the victim was catfished when the suspect, Shoaib (son of Taj Muhammad), was employed as a driver at a private bungalow. To trap the victim, he cultivated a false persona on Snapchat, portraying himself as a wealthy businessman. By sharing photographs of high-end luxury vehicles and the lavish estate where he worked, he convinced the victim of his affluent status and promised her a prosperous future.
After luring the victim away through these deceptive promises, the suspect held her against her will. Upon her rescue and subsequent identification of the perpetrator, the police took Shoaib into custody. Preliminary medical examinations have confirmed that the victim was subjected to sexual assault during her ordeal.
