A victorious sentence has come from Karachi Sessions Court, where a man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his seven-year-old stepsister, Geo News reported. The convict, Ali Hassan, was accused of repeatedly assaulting the minor within their house in Qayyumabad in 2024.

The state prosecutor, Irfana Qadri, stated that the crime occurred on November 23, 2024. The victim in their testimony stated that she was sexually assaulted by her stepbrother multiple times and showed her explicit videos. Additionally, the victim claimed that her stepfather sexually assaulted her. Upon her cries, the mother intervened and was beaten up by him and threatened by her aunts.

The complainant was represented by Advocate Bahzad Akbar of the Legal Aid Society, who stated that the sole testimony of the minor should be sufficient to establish that the assault took place. He added that the testimony is consistent with the medical evidence, hence the culprit should be sentenced accordingly.

The judge noted in the written statement that the victim’s statement aligned with the medical report, as the report suggested repeated assault. The sentence read:

“The negative DNA report is inconsequential and as explained by the doctor is attributable to the significant lapse of time between the last incident and the medical examination. It is a settled legal principle that a conviction for rape can be sustained solely on the credible testimony of the victim and medical evidence is corroborative.”

The defence lawyers claimed that the allegations were false and arose from a property dispute, which the judge described as baseless and unsupported by evidence.
