With each episode of Kafeel, it has managed to engage the audience with its developing story. The heart aches for Zeba(Sanam Saeed), and anger grows for Jami(Emmad Irfani). Alongside, the arc of each character shows depth and delivers how it impacts the main plot.

In episode 6, Zeba’s family realises that she is unhappy in her marriage while she is unable to put it into words. The father discovers that Jami’s family business is in ruins, and he owes money to each trader in the market. The siblings feel that the tears falling down her face are not because she is missing home, but because she is stuck in an unhappy relationship.

The mother (Yasmeen-Munazza Arif), however, is unable not only to understand her daughter but also to always come up with a rebuttal regarding her friend’s family. He rushed into marrying Zeba off to her friend’s brother out of fear, and now finds it hard to accept that it was the wrong decision.

While talking to her mother-in-law, she states that she seems happy, and even after learning that Jami had sold off all his family business, she does not realise that Zeba is under financial pressure. Every time, she keeps telling herself and the family that the financial situation will not affect Zeba and her marriage.

Yet, by the end of the episode, the silent shock she goes into makes her wonder; that marriage decision was wrong, how her friend’s trust landed her daughter in a mess and how more financial demands are going to come from Jami.

As the story continues, the audience becomes deeply involved with it and its characters; hence, the mother is giving them an ick. Her delusional state of mind, inability to understand her daughter’s pain and her constant gaslighting towards the rest of the family do not sit well with them.

Yet the onus does not lie entirely with the mother; the father, too, was unable to investigate the groom and his family prior to the wedding. The viewers did not let it go either! Pointing it out, a user said he should have conducted the investigation instead of screaming at his wife, because she only trusted her friend.
