With each episode of Kafeel, it has managed to engage the audience with its developing story. The heart aches for Zeba(Sanam Saeed), and anger grows for Jami(Emmad Irfani). Alongside, the arc of each character shows depth and delivers how it impacts the main plot.
In episode 6, Zeba’s family realises that she is unhappy in her marriage while she is unable to put it into words. The father discovers that Jami’s family business is in ruins, and he owes money to each trader in the market. The siblings feel that the tears falling down her face are not because she is missing home, but because she is stuck in an unhappy relationship.

The mother (Yasmeen-Munazza Arif), however, is unable not only to understand her daughter but also to always come up with a rebuttal regarding her friend’s family. He rushed into marrying Zeba off to her friend’s brother out of fear, and now finds it hard to accept that it was the wrong decision.

While talking to her mother-in-law, she states that she seems happy, and even after learning that Jami had sold off all his family business, she does not realise that Zeba is under financial pressure. Every time, she keeps telling herself and the family that the financial situation will not affect Zeba and her marriage.

Yet, by the end of the episode, the silent shock she goes into makes her wonder; that marriage decision was wrong, how her friend’s trust landed her daughter in a mess and how more financial demands are going to come from Jami.

As the story continues, the audience becomes deeply involved with it and its characters; hence, the mother is giving them an ick. Her delusional state of mind, inability to understand her daughter’s pain and her constant gaslighting towards the rest of the family do not sit well with them.

Blaming her for ruining her daughter’s life, a user posted to X:
Zeba’s mom is so annoying , her obsession with a big house, car, and servants, but can’t seem to use her brain. She pretty much ruined her daughter’s life.#Kafeel pic.twitter.com/Uk6mxanfOn

Another user was enraged that she was ignoring all red flags and even pushing the thought on others that all was well. They posted:
I swear. She made my blood boil today. She was deliberately ignoring the red flags today even when her husband and saas both raised doubts, and tried to gaslight them that all is ok snd there’s nothing to worry about. pic.twitter.com/wm4rSwdDnb

She is the one responsible. I can’t believe that they married off their daughter without even inquiring about the groom. And she’s still so stubborn that she thinks zeba is happy, gosh what kind of a mother are you? Unbelievable.

She never misses a chance to remind the father why they hurried to marry Zeba off. Pointing it out, a user stated:
And I’m surprised even zeba’s dadi felt that she’s not happy, usky bhai ko behen ko valid ko lag rha h lkn uski mother ko nhi laga? Ulta wo usky baap ko yaad dila rhi hn k hum ne q shadi ki thi uski…. Ye uski saggi maa h hn na #Kafeel https://t.co/NQLIwGHvVq

She keeps mentioning that Jami’s family is well-settled, proving that her only criteria to happiness is wealth. A user posted to X:
People finally picking up Zeba’s mother is greedy

Oh my days ! It’s zaiba’s mum who is the real villain in #kafeel ! Even after knowing the truth of jaami (emad irfani) she’s still advocating for his family.#SanamSaeed was outstanding, honestly. Yet the onus does not lie entirely with the mother; the father, too, was unable to investigate the groom and his family prior to the wedding. The viewers did not let it go either! Pointing it out, a user said he should have conducted the investigation instead of screaming at his wife, because she only trusted her friend.
I maybe too woke but if he did this background check before marrying off his favorite daughter instead of screaming at his wife who only trusted her close friend, he wouldn’t be seeming like a pathetic loser rn, y’all are quick to blame women and never “the man of the house” https://t.co/gQjEs2dWOI

He trusted the friend equally, turning a blind eye to any unforeseen circumstances. A netizen spoke about it and said:
💯 accurate but I gotta give her dad equal flack here. His excuse for not even considering asking around about Jami is lame. That’s his wife’s friend, he didn’t know her from Adam. He just married his daughter off without a single thought because of a high school friendship 🤦🏻♀️ https://t.co/uMEYcMFEOW
