Khalil Ur Rehman strikes again with a bias for feminists voicing their concerns against extra-marital affairs! In a eerily disappointing conversation with Net Gen Talk, he heavily bashes his critics by calling out women who are having affairs with married and “settled” men. In his aggressive tone, he can be seen questioning the anchor why there are no marches and placards held against women who run after married men and wreck their homes. There are no protest groups formed or meeting held to seek accountabilty from women in an affair. Men are not having affairs with themselves, they are having it with women who are already aware of their marital status, is his claim.

He blames women for the rise in divorces as they are now literate by reading “few English books” and are not ready to compromise after a man’s slight mistake. The slight mistake being an affair, he expects women to be understanding and considerate towards the needs of the marriage and family. In his view, women who are now working and earning their own money are unable to make compromises neglecting their duty to build a home. He believes it is the result of the wave of feminism that has hit Pakistan.

In his heated debate regarding affairs, he has come to his character Sir Manto’s defence by saying that he is a bachelor eligible for marriage and cannot be deprived of his marital rights. He calls the romance sketched between Manto and Mehmal a priveledge not all are granted, because it is not an affair as the critics claim rather love that requires loyalty. It cannot be called an affair as none of the characters have previously been married.

He also defended the central plot in Mein Manto Nhi Hun where he states that a student-teacher romance is not unlikely, rather supported by feminists when the teacher is a woman. He has claimed that the story is picked from real-life instances where teachers and students have ended up marrying. Feminists celebrate 70 year old teachers marrying their young students, just because they are women. In defence of his statement, he elaborates that he supports elderly women getting married and living in a “good bonding”.
