Mawra Hocane is once again reigning over television screens with her powerful performance in ‘Jama Taqseem’. The drama has gotten incredible praise for how it cleverly explores topics like toxic family dynamics and emotional abuse.
While Laila is beloved by audiences for her headstrong nature and how she unabashedly sets boundaries with toxic in-laws, she’s also a fashion icon who oozes sophistication in every scene. In every episode whether it is being a supportive chachi to the little ones in the family, or telling her bhaabhi’s to respect boundaries, Laila is someone who doesn’t let someone crush her confidence or her lewks. Here are four moments which prove that Mawra Hocane is THAT trendsetter whom we should all keep on our pinterest notes!
1 Less is more, Mawra makes a simple white kurta look breathtaking
In episode 3, Mawra takes your breath away in this gorgeous plain white ensemble that she paired with a gold and green bib necklace and gold earrings. Along with that a simple makeup look and hair pulled back in a clip prove that even the simplest looks can be enhanced with how you style it. Simple and yet elegant, which is truly what Laila is to her core. Someone who looks simple but is a firestorm underneath when you mess with her.
2 Schooling her in-laws on invading privacy while making a fashion statement
Laila reminds her in-laws subtly that she won’t bow down to their controlling nature so easily, while also looking like a pastel dream in this scene. In episode 6, she looked gorgeous in this light purple ensemble by Coco by Zahra Shahjahan, while politely letting her bhaabhi know that pushing children into adult feuds was a petty thing to do.
3 A supportive figure to the children in the family
Laila sets herself apart from all the adults in the family who isolate the children, use them as tools to spy on others, and turn away when those children need their complaints heard. Laila is the only one who notices the vulnerability in Sidra, and suspects Zeeshan’s harassment. In episode 8, she plays the cool chachi role by giving Sidra the makeup she loved, and gently reminded her not to easily play into acting as a prop into the feuds of other adults.
4 Saving the best for the last: her wedding look in episode 2
Saving the best for last is the gorgeous Sana Safinaz custom jora that Laila wore in her wedding to Qais in episode 2. We can totally understand why the family wasn’t eager to leave the room because no one could take their eyes off from her breathtaking beauty!
Jama Taqseem airs every Wednesday and Thursday on Hum tv.
