Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has responded to allegations by Pakistani veteran actor Javed Sheikh that he was arrogant to work with during the shooting of the film ‘Jannat’.
Speaking to the Indian publication The Indian Express, Hashmi responded that he and the senior actor had remained on cordial terms throughout the shooting, and said the situation was ‘bizarre’.
“I was 20-something then, and he is not my age, so we were never friends. I didn’t hang out with him, but I don’t remember anything like what he is saying happening.”
The ‘Murder’ actor went on to say that the entire situation could have been a misunderstanding because he did not know why Javed Sheikh held on to an accusation for 16 or 17 years.
“I don’t know what Javed sahab took back with him, but it is definitely something he has held on to for 16-17 years. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a giant comedy of errors that has snowballed into something I know nothing about.”
Javed Sheikh had spoken in an interview with Aaj TV’s Ramazan transmission show where he recalled how during their first meeting, the Bollywood actor was incredibly dismissive which had angered the ‘Om Shanti Om’ actor.
“I was increidbly angry because who does he think he is,” recalled Sheikh. “I have been given respect by huge stars like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan who call me ‘Javed gi’, and this guy didn’t even know me that well.”
Javed Sheikh revealed he was angered by the interaction and afterwards when the director had asked him to rehearse a scene before shooting it, he refused to go meet Emraan and asked him to come and meet him at his location.
