“Irrfan khan – Gone too soon but in our hearts Forever”
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passes away at the age of 53 . The actor had been unwell for a long time and earlier this week, he was hospitalised after being diagnosed with colon infection.
In March 2018, he revealed he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour but after extensive treatment he recovered well enough to shoot Angrezi Medium, the film which would turn out to be his last, and whose release this March was cut short because of the pandemic and lockdown going on.
Best known for his roles in films like Angrezi Medium, Hindi Medium and ‘Maqbool’ was known for his skills and was also dubbed as India’s face in the West.
Irrfan Khan also maintained a parallel career in British-American cinema: he played the chief of police in Michael Winterbottom’s A Mighty Heart, and another police man in Slumdog Millionaire, which won eight Oscars.
Despite his status as one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors, Irrfan Khan had a reputation for modesty and integrity and news of his death sent India into mourning, prompting actors, fans and politicians from across the world to express their sadness at his death.
