The family of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf informed the media that he has been hospitalized for the last three weeks, denying false rumors about the 78-year-old retired General’s health.

The family issued a clarification after false reports of his demise were found making the rounds on social media. Posting a Tweet, the family wrote, “He is not on the ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks due to a complication of his ailment (Amyloidosis). Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living.”

The former military ruler had left the country in March 2016 to seek medical treatment from Dubai. He had not been keeping too well and has been hospitalized several times since then. The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) spokesperson Amaan Khan Tareen also refuted the false reports of Musharraf’s demise, deeming it to be “fake news”.
