As a devoted foodie, stepping into Dubai is always a treat for all my senses. The ever-so-dazzling land of shimmering water of the Gulfs and the sun kissed skylines..unfolds a culinary tale for me each time. The fusion of diverse cultures and flavors transforms dining into the journey of the senses, creating a haven for all those who appreciate the artistry of food.
In the day, imagine strolling through the vibrant spice markets, where you can smell the heady aroma of cardamom, saffron and cinnamon. And in the night, stepping into a shimmering wonderland of towering skyscrapers and the sizzle of the street food and fine dine experiences.
Here are a few of my personal cherry-picked restaurants and cuisines to have a lifetime sensual culinary experience in Dubai.
Breakfast:-
If you’re looking for a laid back but quality and flavorful breakfast with aromatic coffee & nutritious yet delicious wide variety of breakfast options then LDC Kitchen + Coffee is your happy safe bet. For me personally, it’s a classic breakfast spot with a delicious and fresh variety of breads and gluten free granola.
I make a point to go there each time for their Avocado Toast, the decadent Egg Mock Muffin, gorgeous fluffy and cooked to perfection Cheese Omelette and last but not the least their mouthwatering French pancakes with crispy homemade brioche and fluffy buttermilk. Another personal favourite of wholesome goodness is the French house – Le Pain Quotidien.
Indulge in freshly baked pastries, organic bread, and signature spreads. The menu features a range of delicious options, from a variety of breads to Belgian waffles, all accompanied by their famous organic coffee. With both these picks, for me personally when I’m Dubai, it’s a serene morning ritual, making each visit a delightful celebration of simplicity and quality ingredients.
Lunch:-
In Dubai, no culinary experience is complete without immersing yourself in the heart of rich Arabian Cusine. On my last trip to Dubai, on a recommendation of a very dear friend we had a chance to visit the heritage village in Hatta area of Dubai.
After a long eventful day in the cultural village, we landed in the Al Hajarain restaurant. It’s a gem for all those who’d like to experience an authentic Emirati cuisine. Set in the middle of the Hatta Village, it’s a sensual restaurant with a beautiful outdoor dining perfect for big families too.
Although the restaurant has a wide variety of continental and European dishes too along with Emirati cuisine, it is highly recommended and known for its traditional dishes. From the aromatic Al Harees to the flavorful Machboos, each dish reflects the rich cultural heritage of the country. Although the Cusine offers a delightful array of dishes, hummus is just the beginning. Here you can dive into the world of mezze, featuring classics like baba ganoush, muhammara, and labneh. Indulging in the savory delights of falafel, a crispy blend of chickpeas and spices.
You can explore the richness of shawarma, whether it’s chicken or lamb, wrapped in warm flatbread. For a hearty experience, try mandi, a flavorful mix of ground meat and rice made in rich broth. We topped off our culinary journey with a cup of aromatic Arabic coffee with a bite of the sweet decadence of baklava. Here each bite was a celebration of the diverse and vibrant flavors that define Arabic cuisine.
Another favourite lunch option is all time favourite the American Cheesecake factory. The expansive menu offers not only a wide array of exquisite cheesecakes but also an extensive selection of American classics. From the indulgent Avocado Eggrolls to the savory Factory Burger, each dish there is a true testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and flavor. For many, dessert menu is a highlight, featuring iconic cheesecakes like the Original and Adam’s Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple. The vibrant atmosphere and generous portions make it a must-visit for all those seeking a taste of quality American culinary excellence in the heart of Dubai.
Dinner:-
As the sun sets in Dubai, the city transforms into a mesmerizing canvas of lights and colors. Skyscrapers adorned with dazzling LED displays come to life, reflecting in the calm waters of the Dubai Marina. The iconic Burj Khalifa becomes a beacon in the night sky, its lights dancing in synchronization. The vibrant nightlife along Jumeirah Beach Residences adds a lively glow to the coastline. From the bustling souks to the futuristic architecture, Dubai’s transition from day to night is a visual spectacle, capturing the essence of a city that never sleeps.
Indulging in the fine dine culinary experience in Dubai is always a sensual treat for me. From the sophisticated ambiance of Nobu at Atlantis, The Palm, where Japanese cuisine meets Peruvian influences, to the iconic Armani Restaurant in the Burj Khalifa, offering contemporary Italian excellence with a view, every bite is a testament to culinary artistry.
Dubai’s fine dining scene caters to diverse tastes, with establishments like Zuma and Pierchic delivering exceptional experiences that combine gourmet cuisine with impeccable service, creating an evening of culinary splendor against the city’s stunning skyline.
However, while there are many many options for an exquisite experience of opulence, this time I tried Carnival by Tresind. This avant-garde restaurant will take you on a culinary journey where each dish is a piece of art. The concept blends modernist techniques with Indian flavors, creating a playful and theatrical dining experience. From deconstructed chaats to delicious duck peanut curries, and a must try Mango Ambi drink the Carnival by Tresind invites diners to engage with food in a new and exciting way.
The vibrant ambiance, soulful music and innovative menu make it a must-visit for all those seeking a cutting-edge dining experience in the heart of Dubai.
These are just a few personal favourites. Dubai’s food scene is a testament to its cultural richness and global influences. The memories of savoring traditional Emirati dishes in Hatta, exploring avant-garde culinary creations at Carnival and indulging in the city’s iconic sweets will linger.
In Dubai, my palate is forever enriched, and my appreciation for this food haven is everlasting and continuing.
