Hania Aamir reveals she abruptly left meet and greet after witnessing organiser use foul language towards her team

Pakistan’s A-list actors Hania Aamir and Fahad Mustafa were present at a fan meet and greet held on Wednesday in Dallas, USA. However, the internet was criticising the duo because both were late to the event, and then Aamir left 35 minutes afterwards without an explanation.

Aamir’s abrupt exit had attracted backlash from social media users online as well as those present at the event, who were unhappy at being denied an opportunity to interact with the ‘Mere Humsafar’ actress. However, this morning, Hania Aamir released a statement on her Instagram account explaining that she had immediately left the event after the organisers used foul and abusive language towards her and her team.

In the statement, the ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ star started by stressing that she truly cared about her fans, and was apologetic that the event had to end immediately.

“There is no secret that I love and respect my fans more than words can describe. Everyone who came to meet us at the Dallas event, I love you to bits and it’s unfortunate that it had to end so abruptly. I am proud of the fact that we have built a community of love, trust and support and of just seeing each other as human beings. So it is only fair that there is transparency regarding this matter as well.”

The ‘Ishqiya’ actress went on to explain that her abrupt exit was due to how the organiser mistreated her along with her female manager, and also the actress.

“When I was going back to my seat I heard one of the organisers verbally abuse my manager. So I walked up to her and asked what had happened and told the man (one of the organisers) that he cannot speak to her like this. She was so distraught that she went backstage, I followed her to make sure she was okay and Fahad being a gentleman also came to check up on her.”

Hania went on to explain that she had tried to remain cordial and interacted with the fans backstage, but the organiser came back and became even more aggressive towards her.

“We decided to start with the photos with the fans backstage, at this point he came running after us, calling us names, telling us to get out, called off the security protocols, and verbally assaulted us even more (people had to hold him back). We were rushed out by our promoter Arif Khan to not further escalate anything and we managed a personal means of transport to get back safely to the hotel.”

After finishing the encounter, Hania Aamir stressed that no man had the right to disrespect anyone in the demeaning manner the organiser had. She also pointed out that women in male dominated fields do not need to put up with such abusive behaviour, and they have every right to leave a toxic situation where they don’t feel safe.

“Secondly, just because us women are in male dominated fields, gives you no right to assume that you can get away with almost everything and that we will not take a stand for ourselves.”

Aamir also addressed the media houses by urging them to instead of piling on a female artist, they should understand the ethical responsibilities of journalism and wait for the other side of the story to come out before making an assumption.

“I understand that it’s a juicy story that a female artist left a show or misbehaved, but it would be really nice if media houses show some responsibility with their journalism and stop putting allegations on us as artists without getting their facts straight.”
