Comedians and actors Azfar and Mani were guests at The Independent Urdu where they opened up about why they chose to dedicate a segment on their iconic show ‘The Azfar Mani Show’ to discussing why they became disillusioned with the politician Imran Khan.

“We were fans of Imran Khan since our childhood, which is why we explained why we had changed,” explained Azfar.

“I have been actively supporting PTI for the past 8 to 9 years,” quipped Mani.

The duo said they had done several interviews with Imran Khan and even visited him in Bani Gala and we thought he was a great personality. “When he changed so we also decided to change,” remarked Azfar. “When he became the PM we were appalled by how quickly he had changed so that’s when we decided to do the episode which was quite long.”

The duo explained they had not criticised the PTI party but had only shown how Imran Khan had changed, and had gotten a lot of abuses after the episode had aired. When they realised how much viewership the episode had received, they decided to go ahead and launch the show.

Mani opened up in the interview about the reasons why he chose to stop supporting Imran Khan:

“I had joined PTI in 2011 and was an active participant around that time, it was when elections had been delayed. I had started making videos criticising the MQM party, especially Altaf Hussain. I was getting a lot of abuse online on Facebook but Mustafa Kamal told me to keep going.”

Mani said he was quite vocal during the 2013 elections and was doing a campaign in Karachi. When the former prime minister had lost, and his wife Hira had protested against it. “But there came a point when I realised that Imran Khan is not the right fit for Karachi,” recalled the ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ actor.
