Biryani has come to a long-awaited end, with Meeran (Khushhal Khan) and Nissa (Ramsha Khan) uniting, putting aside all odds. Gul Mehar (Sarwat Gillani) finds her place at a special-needs educational institute and is happily devoting her time and energy to her students.

Meeran-Nissa finds their way through the dark as Nissa learns that Rashid has been stalking her, showing mistrust towards her and their relationship. Gul Mehar walks out of the feudal home and lights up a flare in Meeran by confronting him for his failure to stand by her in the midst of accusations.

However, what felt like a cute, harmonious ending scene has left viewers both shocked and awed. Meeran and Nissa walk up to Gul to ask her to come back, but she denies. While some viewers appreciate her decision to prioritise her self-respect over a relationship she was forced into, others criticise the plot for showing Meeran and Gul are still married.

What doesn’t sit well is that the core of the drama serial was Nissa’s refusal to accept being the second wife, and Gul and Meeran being forced into marriage. Then how come they are all merry knowing that Gul is still Meeran’s wife? Gul, who had been advocating against cousin and forced marriages, is still holding onto Meeran’s name and association. Baffled by it, a user posted on X and stated:

Another user stated that the plot about cousin-forced marriage was useless, as Nissa still accepted Meeran even though he was married to Gul. They posted:

Even if out of guilt, Meeran too has not let go of his marriage with Gul, the ending scenes show him caressing her name plate that reads,” Mrs Gul Mehar Meeran” referring to the care and love he has for her.

Netizens have raised concerns over not ending a forced marriage, putting the whole theme of the drama serial to waste. They posted:

Calling it a hurried end, another user pointed out how Gul is using Meeran’s name. They stated:

As the message could not be conveyed clearly, another user showed disinterest. They posted on X and stated:

The audience was disappointed by how the Gul Mehar storyline ended, despite showing her to be strong and vocal about her forced marriage. A netizen said:

Another used wished for a different end to Meeran and Nissa, where they accept their fate with their respective partners. They stated:

Yet some still hail Gul Mehar as a hero of the plot, even though she schemed to ensure that Meeran and Nissa were united. From making them work on the project together to pushing the vlogger to publish her story to ignite Meeran’s feelings, she made it happen. They also appreciate how, despite being his wife, she chose a life away from luxury for her own sanity and self-respect.

A netizen stated that where Meeran and Nissa held back by fear, Gul put their jigsaw puzzle together. Appreciating her character, they commented:

Another user applauded her stance of staying away from Meeran and his feudal set-up. They stated:
