Areesha Sultan is “Chupke Chupke’s” breakout star this year and she has won over the audience with her sassiness, her love for drama and documenting the hilarious mess ups of her family! She sat down for an interview with Something Haute where she revealed that working on Chupke Chupke as Mirchi had been a lot of fun for her because not only did she get to learn how to act professionally, but she said that the other cast members, including the director Danish Nawaz, were incredibly nice to her and made her feel extremely comfortable on set as a newcomer:
“When I was playing Mirchi on Chupke Chupke I was working with professional actors like Ayeza Khan, Osman Khalid Butt and Asma Abbass which might make you feel intimidated as a newcomer. But working along side with them on set had been a lot of fun since they treated me very kindly, and I also got to pick up some good acting skills from them.”
When asked about how she came upon signing up for the show, the actress revealed that it was the director Danish Nawaz who had personally invited her to take on the role of Mirchi since he thought she was perfect for the role. But during this time, Areesha revealed that she had her school exams and she had previously decided that she wouldn’t compromise on her studies for acting, so she had refused:
“For the role of Mirchi on Chupke Chupke, the director Danish Nawaz had reached out to me personally because he said that he couldn’t see anyone else performing this role other than me. But I had my school exams coming up and since I didn’t want to compromise my studies for the sake of acting, I had told my mom that I didn’t want to do it. But then my exams got cancelled because of the pandemic, and shooting for Chupke Chupke had also been delayed-so then I agreed to sign up for the role.”
When discussing how she embodied the character of Mirchi, she had revealed that it was a tricky thing to do since she was the complete opposite of her, but then she grew to love the role because of her dialogues and funny mannerisms:
“It was a bit tricky to take on the role of Mirchi because I am completely different from her. She is outgoing and attends family events and is constantly uploading pictures on social media, whereas I am very studious and don’t like to go out a lot. But I grew to love the character because it didn’t seem like a serious job for me, but it was a fun experience because I got to meet very different people and learned a lot about acting from them. I also loved Mirchi’s dialogues with the rest of the family. My favorite part was when Ashar bhai comes to pick up Meenu without his mother, and when Bebe asked me if I had seen his mother I said: “gaari mein tou tthi hi nahi or na hi hain dikki mein.”
