Warning: the article has spoilers for the upcoming episodes of ‘Iqtidar’
Actress Anmol Baloch was a guest on Maliha Rehman’s Youtube channel where she discussed the astonishing popularity of her on going thriller-romance drama ‘Iqtidar’.
The drama revolves around Mehru’s fight to get justice for her brother who was killed in a drunk driving incident, and Shahnawaz, the son of a famous politician, who is caught in the dilemna of restoring his family’s reputation but is also falling for Mehru at the same time.
Speaking to Rehman, Anmol Baloch revealed that the drama’s booming popularity among young audiences had played a strong impact on how the ending scene would turn out. She admitted that at first, the writers had planned on killing Mehru but later decided to change the ending in order to keep the fans happy.
Anmol teasingly remarked that although there won’t be a death scene, but this did not mean that the ending of ‘Iqtidar’ would be a happy one.
On X, fans were relieved to find out that Mehru dying was not going to be the original ending, and were hoping that there was a chance for her and Shahnawaz to end up happily together.
So they had originally planned on killing Mehru but they changed the ending because of fans😭

The ‘Sirf Tum’ actress also revealed on the Youtube channel that ‘Iqtidar’ was not initially meant to be a romantic drama, but the scenes had changed more as fans began sending their support for the chemistry between Mehrunisa and Shahnawaz. Anmol recalled how she looked up reactions on Twitter after an episode which only had one scene between the couple, and fans were incredibly disappointed and called for more romantic scenes between Mehru and Shahnawaz.
‘Iqtidar was not about romance, it was about justice, fights and anger but not romance. But aside from everything, the audience picked up on the romance between Mehru and Shahnawaz..After that the producer and writer began writing more romantic scenes.”
Iqtidar airs every Thursday and Friday on Green Entertainment at 8:30 pm.
